Namoosa

Support

Namoosa is for people in Dubai who get unsolicited marketing calls. A property call is filed with the real-estate regulator as a formal complaint; anything else is reported to the national Do Not Call Registry. It puts your own number on that registry too.

Anything not answered here: info@azrty.com. Tell us what screen you were on and what happened; if you can, include the short code shown at the bottom of the splash screen, which tells us exactly which version you are running.

Filing a complaint

What can I report?

Any UAE number that called you — a mobile (05X) or a landline (04, 02 and so on). A property call goes to the regulator as a formal complaint with a complaint number. Any other unwanted sales call goes to the registries instead, because nobody regulates a telemarketer the way the property regulator regulates a broker.

Why does every complaint need a code?

The regulator sends a fresh one-time code, to your phone and your email, for each complaint. It cannot be batched or reused, and it is what proves the complaint came from you. It is the one part of this nobody can remove.

The code never arrived

Check your email as well — it often beats the SMS. If neither arrives, the mobile number in Your details is the most likely culprit: it has to be the number that can receive the text. Tap back off the code screen, which keeps your report exactly as you wrote it, and check it.

It says the code was wrong

Codes expire. Send a fresh one from the same screen and enter the newest one — an older code will keep being refused even though it looks right.

Nothing was filed and I want to know why

When the regulator refuses a report, Namoosa shows you their own words rather than a generic error. If it says the number was rejected, it needs the full number including the country code.

The Do Not Call Registry

How do I get on it?

Onboarding offers it once your number is in, and it stays in Your details afterwards. It is one text to 2211 from your own line — Namoosa writes the message, you send it.

Reporting a caller to the registry

A complaint deals with one caller; the registry deals with all of them. After a report Namoosa offers the registry text as a separate step, because it is a separate message to a separate shortcode. Your log records which ones you actually sent.

Your data

Where is my information?

On your phone. Namoosa has no servers and no accounts. Deleting the app deletes your details and your log with it — and there is no backup, so that cannot be undone. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is sent when you file.

The app says it needs a phone

On a device that cannot send a text — an iPad with no cellular line, for instance — Namoosa stops at a notice instead of pretending to work. Every path through it runs through SMS: the code arrives by text, and the registry reports are texts.
